Picked up puppy from airport 12-22-12. She was wet, cold, and shivering.

Once warmed up and dry, she seemed to act normally, although she didn't seem to eat very much. Got her to the vet on the 27th and she was diagnosed with a coccidia infection, turns out other pups from the litter had the same. She stopped eating and became weaker, saw the vet several more times, and eventually had to be hospitalized on 1-2-13. She had to have a tube put through her nose into her stomach to give her food, but she still couldn't keep it down.

This morning she died in the hospital.

When I called Purebred, they told me they only cover genetic defects and that it was my fault she died because I didn't get her to the vet soon enough. I am now out $5000 total and worst of all my 9yo son is heartbroken.

Monetary Loss: $5000.

Location: Indianapolis, Indiana

What a sad story for everyone concerned. Adopt from a shelter and avoid puppy mills!

I hope that you were able to go to the local shelter and adopt a puppy there. PERFECTLY healthy pets DIE in shelters because no one wants them and they then get taken to the back, put on the Stainless Steel Table, and given an injection to Kill them.

Then they are thrown into a bag and dumped at a landfill. Meanwhile breeders keep breeding .......

Hi everyone here. What Christine Coleman said is very true though i may not know her.

I experienced it first hand also. It was this organization called fidelity loan firm (f.l.f)that really helped me to pay my medical bills when i was in dare need of money because i am a widow. A friend of my also directed me to them. when i was about to do a major operation and i had no money at that time, they came to my rescue and in less than 48 hours, i got my loan.

But to say the truth, i was nervous and scared at first because i have been scammed twice. But when i summoned up courage and follow their lending policies along with my friends advice, at the end i found myself smiling. If not for them, maybe i would have been dead by now. I have even taken another loan from them start my business after my recovery which i am also paying back now.

My only advice now is that any body who is really in need of loan should contact them with their email via: santoloanfirm@***.com and get a loan from them. Thanks.(Olivia)

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that's fallen for the HSUS's line of pretending to help. All they want is your money.

They could care less if you have a real issue as long as you keep their pockets lined. I received a message similar to the one posted below by BettinaC from somebody from the Humane Society of the United States asking for help. Boy was it a mistake to give them my information. I've never been harassed more by any organization.

Calling all hours of the day, emails multiple times a week sometimes more than one a day asking for money. Their website and commercials are full of sad animal faces they make you think they are helping. What can be lower than making people think their hard earned money is going to save a helpless animal when it really just lines their pockets and bank accounts. Do your research before you give your money away.

I found out real quick that just because my local rescue/shelter has the name humane society in it does not mean they are affiliated with the Humane Society of the United States.

It's just a convenient confusion they profit from. No local shelters receive assistance from the HSUS.

I got caught up in the same scam with the Humane Society of the United States. They troll the internet for people with sad animal stories, reach out like they want to help, only to turn around and harass them for donations.

I've heard of this happening to a lot of people. I did some research and found the HSUS is not what they make themselves out to be. They are being investigated by Congress and the IRS regarding their lobbying efforts and use of the donations they receive.

They are even being sued under the RICO Act. Just do a Google search for hsus fraud and you will see what I mean.

I contacted the Humane Society of the United States regarding a similar situation and gave them my information. To my astonishment I started receiving solicitations to donate money to them.

Although I made a donation they were persistent, calling my home, my cell, and emailing me trying to get more money out of me. Not once did they actually contact me about the issue I brought to their attention. I was very disappointed and felt taken advantage of and scammed.

They prey on people's broken hearts only to leave them hanging. :(

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your Christmas Puppy. My puppy was amputated in March and passed away in May.

He was 17mnths old and had an agressive form of cancer.

I was told by Pure Bred Breeders I could not prove the puppy was born with Osteo Sarcoma and cancer is not genetic. I was also told the contract did not cover vet bills therefore I could not get any money refunded to help with the finances; not to mention the emotional devastation this caused my family.

Dear Anonymous,

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your dog, and can only imagine how heartbroken your family must be. I work for the Humane Society of the United States and we are gathering information about Purebred Breeeders in light of all of the complaints about this business. We are collecting this data as part of our campaign to end the sales of dogs from substandard breeders and puppy mills.

If you have any information you would be willing to share as a buyer with experience using this business as a forum to purchase puppies, please contact me at bcamcigil@***.org

We would love to hear from you! Any information you could share would be much appreciated.

Bettina
